Red light stays on
The red light came on and I cleaned the unit thoroughly and but the grid
back in and the red light did not go out. I unplugged the unit
overnight
and it still didn't go out it. and the red light still came back on.
Help I can't go without it. It really helps with my allergies.

I had the same problem: Had cleaned it inside, taking off both grids, washing wire, etc. Still the red light blinking would come back on after a few minutes. So here's what I did next:
Take off the grids on both sides. Make sure the grids are clean with water and paper towels (lots of black) On the unit itself, wipe out the metal sides and all the plastic. Then, here's the KEY,
get out your computer cleaning canned AIR and blow it into the open unit and blow the air on both of the grids too. I first used a hairdryer to blow it out, but the canned air is much stronger and I got all kinds of little black particles out with it.
Put it up and down 3 times, plugged it back in and WALAA! The unit is back to working perfectly and no red light has come on again!
I'm sure this will work for everyone if you just get the canned air and blow out the unit and the grids too even though you've cleaned them!
