Hi. Thanks so much for your input. Actually it's a No Frost model, and indeed has never had any frost. ALso the fridge and freezer have separate motors. The freezer is still working, but the fridge has no vital signs, except the door light. Is this fridge death?

Not fridge death. If nothing is running it is a good sign that it is repairable. Unplug it. Where the temperature is located, remove it if you can. There will be two wires connected to it. Connect these two wires together and then plug in the refrigerator. It should run and cool. If this makes it run and cool your problem is the thermostat. Replace it.
If it does not run from above, the compressor may have a burnt overload protector or wire off.
