If you have this laptop to be honest if you are going to reinstall just go ahead and use a new copy of windows xp. Averatec carries no support for that laptop at all not even the bios. This laptop's drivers are all covered in vista, but if you use windows xp the drivers will all install but you get the generic brand video drivers. you are going to have to try both and see which one you like. vista will allow the computer to run normally just give the laptop an upgrade in ram to 1g and it should run great as a single core processor.
