relay(?) smells hot, wont do next, after cool runs ok
Kenmore 18in built-in model 587-14249990. Notes: the timer tests fine at all steps and the wiring & contacts to motor relay & motor (cant see actual motor contacts as wires go inside housing) look all good. I also fully disassembled lower arm unit & water gears etc down to just the motor shaft and all were clear & the motor shaft turns freely either way.

BUT the problem is- the dishwasher starts & runs fine (as long as its cool) from anywhere in the cycles I want, but after a few minutes in wash or drain, I notice a "hot" smell from motor/relay area when the motor is running. The next request of the cycle (be it wash or drain), the motor won't kick back on. If I stop the cycle & let the motor/relay(?) cool, then re-start in same place, the motor does whatever is next just fine until it heats up again. I hope its the motor relay & not the motor. Any ideas?? Thanks! Deb
