Remote Control Ceiling Fan Problem
We installed a new ceiling fan with remote. Before we had a ceiling fan / light combo that was controlled on two light switches. One switch for the fan -- and one switch for the light.

Our ceiling wiring has one black - one white - and one copper (all three were connected to the old unit). We wired the white from ceiling to white on the receiver. Then the black from the ceiling to the black from the receiver. Green went to the copper one (ground). Then we wired the receiver to the fan according to the colors and the diagram.

Both switches are on. We can't get any power at all to come on now. We have checked and double checked the connections, etc. Could the problem be in the switch somehow?

My other thought was to wire the white and black wires from the receiver to just the one black from the ceiling (capping off the white from the ceiling) but I don't know if that is safe or not.
