Remote control does not work. Changed batteries. Tried universal remote, could not find code or get any reaction from using any code. Turning on by use of TV's side buttons works fine, as does switching sources

You may want to just get an original replacement remote. Let me know the make and model of this TV and I will see what I can find for you.

The only remote I can confirm will work with that model is either the original remote (which is $150 online, ridiculous if you ask me!) or a logitech harmony universal remote. Harmony's are actually the best remotes available, and will truly consolidate all of your remotes into one, and make all devices work together as they should. They are a bit spendy, but I found one here that is roughly half the price of the original remote for that unit. You will love this remote too, it makes everything so much easier:
