Repairing bobbin thread uptake
I cannot get the top thread to pick up the bobbin thread. It seems the top thread does not connect with the slot in the metal bobbin plate to bring it up. I would like a repair manual.

Make sure you are using a brand new needle. Bent/dull/damaged needles sometimes will not connect with bobbin thread.
If it still does not pick up the bobbin thread, then it most likely is a timing issue (the needle arrives at the wrong time to intercept the bobbin thread). There are web sites and videos online that discuss sewing machine timing. Or you can take it for service.
Repair manuals are difficult to find as they were issued only to repair service personnel. Sometimes you may find one for sale or even uploaded, but that is rare.
