Replace oil seal
I need to replace an oil seal? at least ive narrowed it down to that. the seal i speak of is on an 87 jeep comanche, 242 inline6, manual transmission. i just recently replaced the slave cylinder for the clutch, only to have sprung an oil leak. its dripping from the connection of the driveshaft to the tranny. so i am on a search possibly for a diagram or something of the sort that would show the repair of the oil seal. anyone have any ideas? thanks for the help in advance!

No need for a diagram. Just remove the driveshaft and pull the seal out. Go to your local autoparts store (or Sears) and buy a seal puller. They are cheap. While at the autoparts store you could wander over to the Haynes auto manual section and flip through to see exactly how they say to do it (if they have a book unsealed). It's easy, just dig in. You may have to take the tailshaft housing off but that is only a a few bolts. That would make it easier but I've done it without removing it... also, if it's leaking, check the tailshaft housing for cracks. They are known for hairline cracks which equalls leaks. You may have to remove the housing anyway. Good luck!
