Most of the units I have replaced the the hinge cord on ive had t o pull the dishwasher out almost all the way install the rope first im not sure on your peticular model if you have a double roller or not atm but you end up pulling the spring with your hand to meet the rope and yes it does sometimes pinch your skin inbetween
