I failed to note how the old wiring was set up when i removed an overhead 3 light fixture (w/dimmer switch) & can't get proper set up so switch works (incl on/off). There are 2 black & 2 white wires twisted which were like that before plus 1 single black & white which may, or may not, have been connected somehow. I've tried several combinations and can get light to work but switch & dimmer don't. Not sure it matters but I currently have 40watt bulbs in.

The single b&w wires are not registering on my circut tester.
