Replacing Goodman Furnace B18099-26 with ICM286 fails
The original control board in my Goodman GMS90904CXA furnace was no longer providing 120VAC to my inducer blower so I got the ICM286 as a replacement. Install was simple but when I turned the system on and "called for heat" as soon as the burners ignite the gas is immediately shut off. The control board LED flashes eight times. The manual states the "C" terminal needs to be grounded and/or thermostat is bad. My "C" terminal is grounded (checked with a multimeter), so I don't think that can be it. I have a Honeywell TH4110D1007 thermostat - battery powered. The "C" terminal is not connected. I tried connecting at the thermostat and the ICM286 and that didn't work. I replaced the batteries and no joy. I then removed the thermostat and jumpered "R" and "W" and this finally resulted is solid ignition and the furnace provided heat. I have a second furnace (same model and same thermostat). That furnace/thermostat is operating fine. I put that known working thermostat on my ICM286 unit and I still get the 8 flashes. Any idea on how to get the ICM286 to work properly with my Honeywell thermostat?
