Replacing lcd I have a gateway 3550gz, the screen broke,, small hairline crack in screen, it eventually stopped working all together. I just got a replacement screen, we put it all together just like it was with the original, whaen the laptop starts up the screen is very dark, we mcan hardly msee whats on it. Is there a driver that needs to be downloaded? Why would it be dark like this and not start up like a new bright screen?

My friend while i was thinking about ur situation in here this idea just passed by and it could be the reason why ur screen is so black
u know when u close the laptop (not turn off just close it) there is some kind of button maybe that one is always pushed down so ur screen is thinking that its closed so its always dark
just try to take a look at it maybe its jammed inside or there is smthing blocking it down
