requirements. I have located a switch on the flashdrive but cannot utilise anything SMALL enough to throw it without the fear of damage, believing that this may be the solving of this problem. If you can suggest a solution, I would be most appreciative. Thank you

1. I would need to know exactly what brand and size of flash drive you're dealing with.
2. I'm not going to condem you for using XP home but you should really consider switching to XP pro ... thats a strong suggestion because XP home will fail to install in certan situations such as nforce2 ( reasons undisclosed by microsoft ) it is because of driver issues with nforce2 on the native XP home CD.
3. All of the files on your particular "USB flash/thumb/harddrive drive" could be write protected , as a result copy operations may fail. attempt to assertain if that is the situation happening to you.
4. I'm a hardware monkey , I like to take total control of hardware so that I can use it to it's fullest potential , sometimes this is a good thing , sometimes it is not , it just depends on a few factors to make that determination.
I enjoy nothing more than helping a fellow hardware monkey.
feel free to bother me about any seamingly insignificant hardware issue , and I'm not bad with software either :->
