Forget these silly answers, obviously you cant get into the DVR to reformat the disk because you don't have the password to get in there in the first place! And you do NOT need to reformat the drive anyway. There is an easy way to find your "Super Password". The super Password on the Swann systems is the MAC address of the DVR.
Once you input this you can then enter a new password.
To get the MAC address the easiest way is to plug the recorder and a laptop into a cheap £9 amazon network switch, make sure it's plugged in with no other equipment attached - then on the laptop, open the command prompt (click the windows button, then type CMD and press enter) and type " arp -a " (without the inverted commas). This command will give you the IP address and the MAC address of the equipment connected to the switch - namely the laptop and the recorder. it should look something like "0c-f9-c0-33-45-0f" - you'll have 2 MAC addresses like this to chose from (like I said, 1 is the recorder and the other is the laptop). Now on the super password page of the recorder, punch in one of the MAC addresses but replace the "-" with a ":" so it looks something like 0c:f9:c0:33:45:0f once you've got this right it'll prompt you for a new password. I suggest you get a Sharpie and write your new password on the bottom of the DVR in big fat letters! Good luck people!!
