Rev limit light flashes when reved over 6000 rpm!
Bike rode well the night before. started it the next night warmed it up at idle, took off in first gear once the revs passed 6000rpm the red rev limit light flashed repeatedly when over 6000rpm.

No, the rev limiter resets to 6000 rpms when the battery goes dead or is changed. You have to reprogram the rev limiter to allow it to rev to 11,500 or more, but i am sorry to say that i can't recall the sequencevof buttons to reset it, which shold be in your owners manual. This is not an upshift light!
It has a shift light built in so it blinks to tell you to shift.
