It depends on the model and type of small engine you have but it will be either one of two types of ignition systems.The magneto system that is fairly simple and easy to work on.Or the points and condensor type that requires the removal of the flywheel and a dust cover to gain access to. In either case the front shroud (front cover with recoil on it) must be removed to gain access to either type.
