Try taking off the U bend and see if there is suction coming out from where the right end of the U bend connects. If there is suction then the problem lies after the u bend in the hose or wand.
Also take a battery or a weighted object and drop it down the wand to see if there is any blockage Clog is most likely cause. dead motor can cause bad suction but will make a funny noise and smell.
AFTER NOT USING THE HOSE ATTACHMENT FOREVER, I FINALLY BROUGHT IT IN. (NEAREST SERVICE CENTER IS 55 MILES AWAY FROM MY HOUSE). ON THE VERY TOP, WHERE THE FLEXIBLE, RETRACTABLE PART OF THE WAND ENTERS THE PLASTIC MOUNTED PIECE ON THE BODY, WAS A WATER BOTTLE CAP. IT HAD LOOKED LIKE IT WAS PART OF THE VACCUUM, LOOKED LIKE THE SAME COLOR AND ALL. HE DROPPED A SCREWDRIVER THRU THE TUBE TO PUSH IT OUT. FELT LIKE A TOTAL IDIOT. THE REPAIRMAN SAID IT HAPPENS ALL THE TIME.
I REPLACED MY CLUTCH WHILE I WAS THERE TOO. MY VACCUUM IS 5 YEARS OLD, AND HE TOLD ME I WAS LUCKY IT WAS STILL AROUND. HE SAID THE NEW ONES WERE BETTER, BUT DIDNT SEEM TO IMPRESSED. I DO LOVE THE DYSON, BUT $120 FOR A CLUTCH WAS PAINFUL. BUT, ON THE OTHER HAND, I WOULD PURCHASE ANOTHER DYSON IN A HEARTBEAT
I HOPE IT'S MERELY AN INVISIBLE CAP FOR ALL OF YOU!
