Is this XP or Vista? At one time SATA was new to XP and you needed a floppy with the setup instructions that came with the drive.XP has since caught up with these setup instructions.Just run setup without the floppy.Just let the floppy request time out. I can't remember the last time I had to load the floppy and I have loaded lots of Windows O.S's. If you are using RAID you should use the software that came with your board.
Hi nveronika,
First things first. Find the name of you're SATA hard disk drive.
Please go to the manufacture's web site & download the floppy drive setup/utilities bootable software or creat a bootable CD from the manufactures site. Boot the system with their software & setup you're hard disk drive which will run in a DOS like window. (This should resovle the blue screen issue).
There are two different revision for the motherboard GA-M52l-S3
(Revisions, 2.0 uses the NVIDIA® GeForce 6100 / nForce 430 chipset): http://www.giga-byte.com/Products/Motherboard/Products_Spec.aspx?ProductID=2818
& (Revision 1.0 which uses the NVIDIA® nForce 520LE Chipset): http://www.giga-byte.com/Products/Motherboard/Products_Spec.aspx?ProductID=2634
Which is you're motherboard? Once you find the correct motherboard you can download the the needed software directly from the web site & create the correct floppy disk needed when pressing the F6 key during windows installation. If you still get an error message try another fresh floppy disk. (Corruption of files to a floppy usually mean the floppy drive is dirty or bad or the floppy disk is bad). It is also possible that the data cable to the floppy drive is loose or defective. Downloading directly from Gigabyte is suggested over using the CD.
Good luck nveronika!

Hi nveronika, error message "System has recovered from a serious error". This is most likely generated by a software issue.
If you did not setup your drive by using the manufacture's bootable floppy utilities software or bootable CD software it is still possible there is a FAT = File Allocation Table issue.
A FAT issue can cause the error you saw & can continue to freeze your system, or load windows slowly. Eventually corrupting your files to the point windows will fail. (I always use the software provided by the manufacture to set up every IDE or serial ATA SATA hard disk drive when repairing a system before installing windows).
There is an order of installing software when I work on a drive & over the years I have found this works every time. After installing windows (Fresh). Install all motherboard drivers. Register your windows by phone. Update your windows through windows update service, rebooting when windows request to. Continue to update windows up to SP2. When installing .Net framework, only install one at a time & stay in order.
Do not install SP3. (YET). Install you're antivirus software & update it. Run a full system scan. Install programs link, java, directx 10, quick time & printer software directly from the internet. Restarting inbetween each install. Create a system restore point.
Continue this until you have installed everything. Run you're system for a couple days as you normally would. If everything seems fine create another system restore point before installing SP3. (None of this will matter if you refuse to run the manufactures setup/utility software). If I thought this wasn't a very important thing to do I would haven't have suggested it.

Hi nveronika, you want to pick the nvidia nForce storage controller. (Do not forget to remove the floppy disk when windows finishes).
Sorry, you must re-install windows fresh.
I think you are a wee bit confused about setting up the new SATA hard disk drive up before installing windows. When I mention go to the manfactures site & download the bootable SATA software (I meant the "Name" of your SATA drive).
Lets say you're new SATA drive is a Seagate drive. I suggest you go to Seagates web site & read how to download & create a bootable floppy disk so you can format your SATA drive. Read through this Seagate link;
