Sata isnot reconized in bios nor will it install xp on a sata drive it starts to load all files then when to enter to set up xp home sp-3 the board is new been shelved then it gives windows cannot be installed no hard drive was found on your system, it will take a IDE drive but the test ide is old but worked ok i have reset the bios to default and no change then i reset it back to no floppy drive, it has two sata ports

Have you tried to manually set the drive in Bios If the Auto setting fails to find a hard disk drive, set it to User, and then fill in the hard disk characteristics (Size, Cyls, etc.) manually. If that doesn't work, try a different cable then try sata2 port.
If that doesn't work then your drive or your sata ports are bad.
Look up the specs. on the mb and find out if it supports sata1 or sata2 drives. Your motherboard should have four sata ports and you may want to change to another port. Also, you may need to format this sata drive, booting from the ide drive. Windows takes a long time to format but may be the only answer. Last, make sure your bios settings are sata as raid. Hope this works for you, its a pain.
