Screen goes dark after a few seconds
Other posts indicate this is a common prob with this unit. I have replaced power board cap's c211 thru c217 and c12&13 .The only electrolitic's I haven't replaced are c201 (100uf/100v) and c22 which i have yet to determin the value of.
The problem remains I can now get it to stay on for 5 or 6 min. every now and then and the display is perfect but it goes dark then will only turn on for 4or 5 sec by looking close I can see that the display is still on but screen is dark.
Does anyone know where I can get a schematic this unit as it would aid trouble shooting greatly .
ALSO if you have any sugestions on how to correct this problem i would very much like to hear them thanks-gls1934

I think you need new backlights, if it was the inverter or power supply (the same in this case), it would not come on for that long, even 4 or 5 seconds. This unit has four 2mm x 405mm ccfl bulbs (cold cathode fluorescent light) two on top and two on bottom which can act much like household fluorescent tubes, coming on only briefly or one bad one causing the others not to strike or to turn off with it. I haven't been able to find exact replacements yet but I have an email in to Proview parts. When I find a part number and price I will post it here. Also if there was a problem with your power supply board, especially capacators, you would most likely be able to see that.
This is a problem with the backlights i just replaced them with some backlights from a lcd tv that had broke. i had to modify the case a little but once its together you cant tell the difference. has been working for an hour so far.
Sometime replacing capacitors MIGHT resolve these this problem.There an inverter I.C. chip "BIT3193G" which sometime goes bad. Also this unit is also known to have bad lamps. The lamps size is 2.6mm(D) x 414mm(L). If replacing capacitor didn't resolve the problem then you will need know electronics to fix the problem. I do repair on this board and offer my service on eBay.
Capacitors are one part of the protection circuit there are transistors in the circuit that will may also need to be replaced they handle the switching for the lamps at high rates pushing high voltage by ac. if the unit is less than 10 years old the lamps are most likely not the problem.
