It depends what the codes that are kicked out are. Take the vehicle to your local parts store chain - Muray's, Advanced Autoparts, Autozone, ETC and have them read your OBD codes for free. You will get a number like P0623. They can tell you what it means - or you can re-post here for exact help. The light is coming on for a reason - and it should be checked before driving too much further (especially if it is recurring).
Its primary function is to warn of a bad thermostat.
However, if it is found in conjunction with DTC P0125 it is most likely a skewed ECT sensor (but this code alone can still signal just a bad ECT sensor as well).
The P0128 can also be indicative of a failed IAT sensor as well.
Replacing the Thermostat AND IAT sensor in combination usually stops the Error Code & Light.
