Shop replaced 2003 Astro AC compressor, accumulator, orifice tube, and oil. Upon starting when compressor came on, there was a loud pop. The system was not fully charged yet. What to do now?
The system was checked with vacuum, and it held. It was not fully charged, so shouldn't have had much pressure on it. Repairman wondered about different seals, as some of the new ones seemed to be in the open. Suggestions?

It sound as if a different compressor was installed in the vehicle than the original. A replacement should fit and look the same as what was there before. As should all of the replacement parts. If you now have open plumbing and exposed seals and such, the new equipment was not installed properly. Maybe the compressor was pumping into a closed vessel, and quickly burst. Can't see it from here, but a qualified mechanic could get the job done correctly.
Not sure what you are saying here, does it work, the AC?
