Sigma 70-300 F4-5.6 APO DG MACRO for Nikon AFD Focusing problem
This little used lens which is one and a half years old seems to have developed a mechanical focusing problem. It focuses perfectly in auto or manual to 40ft approx but almost seizes between 40 and infinity. The autofocus will not work past 40ft unless you mechanically force it which does not feel right at all. Move it a few times manually and it will work in a fashion but not perfectly. It feels like I could be doing damage as I force it past a virtual stop at 40ft. Is this a known problem? Any solutions? Given it was little used and well looked after, have I any point in seeking warranty / goodwill repair?

Had this lens for my Pentax and used it for more than 10 years without trouble.
Have you got the lock on? should be a little button on the side.
Has it been dropped, maybe damage to the threads inside.
If its still under warranty then take it to the place you bought it from with all its paper work and get it checked out.
