Singer 404 - The top needle thread will not pick up the bobbin thread on a Singer 404. I know the timing is fine, the needle is in correctly and I have loaded the bobbin thread correctly. I don't know anything about sewing but I have noticed that when I move the wheel to move the needle, the outer wheel under the bobbin moves but the bobbin itself doesn't spin. Is the bobbin supposed to spin?

Is it the original bobbin? try a different bobbin, sometimes they won't work if slightly dent or chip! I know it sounds weird bt it's the truth about bobbins
