Is it a regular 'skip' or purely random? You might have a fuel issue. Try a dose of injector cleaner through it. Add it to your fuel and once it warms up to working temperature let it idle for 15 to 20 minutes. DON'T rev it up as this thins out the fuel-cleaner mixture so it doesn't do its job properly.
After doing a bit more searching on Google you don’t normally need to worry about the fuel filter. The filter is a Gauze ‘sock‘ type that is built into the pump inside the tank.
