Slow fan on Window Air conditioner Sears 106.73220
The fan Runs slow about half speed. The Fan motor turns free and will spin for 2 minutes after the power is off but the fan turns slow.
I figured it was the run Capacitor so replaced but only a tiny bit faster.
Since the new capacitor made very little difference I put the old one back and jumpered in the new on in Parrallel and if a tiny bit faster but still so slow the condenser would freeze up it I let it run a long time.
The fan motor has no brushes or anything like that so do not think it is a motor problem. Looking for a Schematic to help trouble shoot.
I will ohm out the motor but right now am suppecting the controls. When the problem first started it would be fine then slow way down then pick back up. The compresser runs good.
Any ideas??

You mentioned replacing the run capacitor, but this sounds more like the start capacitor. These are usually wired to supplement the run capacitor during startup and get the motor up to full rpm, then the inertia switch in the motor, normally closed at rest, opens and takes the start capacitor out of the circuit. With a bad start capacitor, the motor never gets up to the required rpm for the inertia switch to open and remove it. Having the run capacitor as the only one in the circuit is insufficient to get the motor up to full rpm. A capacitance tester can tell you whether you have a bad start capacitor without resorting to diagnostic parts swapping. IMPORTANT: Always exercise extreme caution testing or handling capacitors, and make sure any charge is fully bled off. The several hundred volts it can deliver can burn out your tester or give you a fatal shock.
If the motor seems like its getting extremely hot it could possibly be seezing up. i would suggest taking your volate reading for the motor and check for proper voltage, also check you amp draw on the motor. the proper amp draw should be on the name plat of the motor. any below the proper amp draw, replace the motor.
