Its easy to find out .. have a "compression" and "leakdown" test done .. that will tell you the condition of the rings, cylinders and valve seats .. if the oil has been changed regularly then i would not suspect it to be "warn out " .. more likely a blown head gasket allowing oil to flow into a cylinder (check for carbon on one spark plug) .. or warn valve guides/seals (repairable) .. of course look for oil leaks ..
