Smoke smell from pc after ram change
I have a pc i put together that has an asus sk8v mobo and ddr 3200 ram w/ a amd athlon 64 fx 53 cpu an assistant tried to add on to the 1gig ram and shifted the ddr ram to other slots and put in ddr2 ram (i am still trying to find him to #$*&*&%$# him!) upon reboot the fans came on but nothing on monitor and he reporting the smell of smoke promptly shutting it down everything was put back as before but it won't respond except for fans
can't tell what caused the smoke any suggestions as to what is ruined?

Yep, your mobo is fried, DDR2 and DDR do not share quite the same pin payout. Toasty Mobo, but on the plus side now you'll be able to buy one that has better driver support.
And kudos for hiring an assistant who shoehorned RAM into a slot it did not fit in and firing it up.
