smoking
Help!!
I went to use my coffee machine after not using it for a few weeks, after about a min after being switched on smoke started to come out of the top of the machine so I quickly switched it off!
I don't really know much about this sort of stuff, but I let it cool down for a while then opened up the top and could see that there was small burnt looking patches around one of the cables/connections.
No idea how to go about sorting the problem, any help would be much appreciated.

From the pic I can see that the element is burnt out, you will have to replace the boiler(boiler and element come in one piece), check with your local Rancilio dealer or check with EspressoPartsNW, for a new boiler/element, also get the gasket for that. To remove boiler disconnect connection to pump and steamvalve, then remove allen wrench screws.
Reasons element burnt out: It could be lack of water in boiler, or one of the thermostats on the boiler is gone, check them with Ohmsmeter, and order necessary thermostat(they have different temperature settings).
