Hi. It souds like the projection lamp has failed. It's possible that it is a power supply problem, though, as you said that you could see some backlight. Usually the backlight should be nice and strong, that way all images are displayed properly. Possibly a low voltage issue. Also, I would check over allyour circuit boards, to make sure that there are no burned out resisters, or blown capacitors. Especially the capacitors. They are notorious for going out, and causing all kinds of problems. Just be careful with the capacitors, they can hold alot of voltage, and can cause injury if handled carelessly.
Also, on your mainboard, look for any burn spots around any of the connection points with the chips. This could indicate a power surge has occured, and htis could also cause a video output failure. The modern flat screen tv has alot going on inside of it, I just hope that I have covered it for you.
