Someone accidentlly knocked my DVD player off my lap while it was plugged into the wall outlet. The prong that is on the inside of the "DC IN 12V" broke off into the plug in can that be repaired or is it trash?

It can, but you have to take the entire thing apart and de-souldre it then souldre in a new one. The plug can be replaced by a generic one from an electronics store, or a salvage from another unit.
Still not that simple of a job.
It can be repaired but you'll need someone with electronics knowlege to take it apart and solder in a new socket
