Sometimes a black screen. a little smaller than the regular screen pops up. It seems to be a parental control, although I have been through the menu on the TV and the parental controls are turned off. I can get rid of the black screen by pressing the display button, but sometimes it comes right back

This unit is set to receive "text" in the closed caption menu. Go to the closed caption menu and turn the closed caption off. There could possibly be a closed caption button on the remote. Thanks for using fixya.
