Sometimes dvd players will have problems playing certain types of recordable discs. You might need to switch from the Sony brand and try a different one. Also there are DVD+R and DVD-R types. The Bose might have issues trying to play a "+" type disc. Also make sure that the disc is being properly "finalized" by the burning software you are using so the Bose system will recognize the disc. The burning software I use is called Nero Burning Rom and it is very easy to use. It allows you to control the burning for various applications and can help with "problem discs". If you are able to play other burnable discs in the Bose and the Sony discs are the only one giving you the problems then it is probably just that brand and you will not be able to use them with your Bose. And just a note some older DVD burners can only burn "+" type discs or "-" type discs but not both. Your computer according to the specifications from HP should not have a problem burning both types as long as the drive is the original.
