Sound problems All speakers are hooked up. We know this because when we play a CD where can clearly hear the singer and as well as the band. However when we play a DVD we can only hear the background noises but not the people talking. We ran a "Pink Noise" test and all speakers sounded except the center speaker. How is it that we can hear the Center speaker when a CD is played, but when a DVD is played only the background is heard? Please respond anyone. ASAP. Thanks

The primary use for the center channel is to anchor the dialogue to the display. Or to put it another way it's where you will hear the voices of the actors. Because CD's are multichannel recordings they don't discriminate about where the voices are in relation to the instruments. So you will be able to hear sound coming from all the speakers while playing a CD. To enable a system to do both things well your system has to be reset to the appropriate mode. So basically you are trying to watch and listen to a DVD while your system is set to a mode for CD's I am not sure what system you have however I believe that you need to do change the system to surround sound mode. Good luck!
