Stange noise coming from reverse osmosis system
Sounds like the valve is rusty and in pain...the system has been well maintained, was working fine a few day's ago and now this strange noise emiting, sometimes the noise is intermitant and sometime - like right now - it 'beeps' every second.
I shut all the valves leading to it last night and that seemed to stop it but now...

The sound you are hearing is from the ASO (automatic shutoff) on the back of the housing, above the membrane (center filter). It has a diaphram and spring that can weaken. It is trying to close but can not close fully. This will cause a squeal or chirping sound. The ASO shuts the water off to the RO system when the RO tank fills up and pressure equalizes across the RO. The ASO can be taken apart and cleaned/serviced. If it is time to change the filters (every 6 months, pre and post filters) I would have the system sanitized and the ASO repaired. Have the capillary tube replaced as well.
