Static at louder volumes
I got this used. it seems fine at lower volume, but when I crank past half it has static that sounds like a loose cord (crackling noise). it does it in both inputs so I doubt it is the input jack. it seems to be coming from the lower frequencies, because it gets worse with heavy strumming. it does this with both of my guitars, an ovation LX nylon and breedlove retro dreadnaught. My cord is a brand new monster rock cable. I hate to think that I was robbed!! I havn't opened the speakers for inspection yet, because it sounds clear at low volumes, no indication of blown speakers.

All you need to confirm is to remove the connection to the guitar, remove the jack and cord to the guitar and now check if the noise is prevalent at higher volume, when the volume control is turned up. If so the fault is with the cord , the jack or the gutiar pick up insulation or internal connection or shielding.
Cross check with a seperate cord or another amplifier to confirm the case.
If the noise is from within the amplifier then it is possible there is fault in the preamplifier, fault with shielding of the inputs or the preamp, broken groung connection.
