Steam escapes from pressure cooker
I have used my pressure cooker twice now and it never seems to get up to temperature because quite a bit of steam escapes during the cooking process. In fact, when the food should be done after the recommended time, I never have to release any steam/pressure .Is it normal for steam to escape while cooking and if so...how much is normal? It appears as though something is not right with the lid or gasket?
Thanks !

That is what happened to mine and I notice it was not the gasket, but plastic lock on the inside of the handle, it broke. Why make is out of plastic and controlled with a spring? DuH? This controls locking the handle and also hold the small pressure valve done. This caused the steam to escape before item is cooked even if it's not 100% broke and lid still locks.
The gaskets are junk , i had to toss one myself i used one time then stored for a year and the gasket went bad , mine came from hsn when i called them ,there where no parts made for it . so out it went cheep china junk . sorry , good luck
