Sub hum when amp goes up
Ok im running off of a stock radieo with a pac converter. every thing works ok i geuss but when i turn my amp up just a little it still plays but when i turn my radio down a very loud humm happens. then i have to either flip a swich or turn my car off in back on when it happens i have re hook every thing 3 times but it keeps happening. so what is going on any one knows

I am assuming the following: The Amp power is 1/0 gauge wire (huge) and runs directly to the fuse then to the battery + terminal, and you have a 1/0 gauge wire to an excellent ground. If you are missing any of these (esp the fuse) you are flirting with disaster. This Amplifier draws upwards of 100 Amps with a 1 ohm load! (If you are using this for competition you may also use a second battery to help dampen the noise, a high output alternator, and or a capacitor (which should be connected to the 4 gauge input terminals on your amp). I also assume that: When the engine isn't running the "humm" is not present, and when running if you remove the RCA connections from the AMP the noise should also go away. This amp has line level adaptability connecting speaker level inputs directly into the RCA terminals (you must set the "input sens" switch to "X10") ... so you may get rid of the PAC converter this may help get rid of the noise. I had same issue with a tna 250/1 amp. If I applied just a little tension to the the rca cables, Hum went away. Replaced the cables twice and same thing. Got irritated and destroyed a couple of cords ( didn't help btw.) bought a new amp. Wasn't happy about that so I replaced it witha 400 watt kenwood that I already had and returned the new one. Still wasn't happy. Took the MTX apart and checked the solder on the board where the jacks and found them to be loose. Bought a $20.00 soldering iron, heated them up while pushing on the box the rca jacks plug into. Heard a little click, added some new solder and just reinstalled the amp.... works awesome now. The way I looked at it was I was out an amp anyway so for the sake of adding a soldering iron to my already extensive tool collection I had nothing to lose. Took me 7 months to get up the nerve/irritation level but I'm happy I did it.
