Subaru Liberty Engine check light has come on, has a EJ20TT from a 94 Legacy. Just wanting to find out how to check engine trouble codes through the diagnostic port, (which wire would i need to plug into in the diagnostic port) the old fashion way. (without a scan tool)

Your model and year has OBDII. I would not suggest shorting any wires. It will not flash codes. Most Auto parts stores will test it for free. Good luck and have a great day.
