Subaru Outback 2000. new clutch installed and facing surface machined. At less than 300Km clutch pedal not fully returning and subsequnetly clutch has began to slip again. Can this be causes by a sticking slave cylinder?
Sounds like you do have a fault in the hydraulic system and or stick or leaking slave cylinder. recheck the system again to insure the fluid is not dirty and or bad and there are no leaks. but it is very possible you have a bad slave.
Who performed the clutch job. If a shop did, itsirrelevant what is causing the problem because they need to look at it again to determine the fault. Plus the clutch is under warrenty.
If the the pressure plate was not replaced with the new clutch then this is your problem.
If you had a all four parts replaced and you still have the same problem as before then the problem is the master cylinder.
The slave will only fail and the symptom is you wont be able to engage. It doesnt have anything to do with release.
Also if the person is riding the clutch it will do this in no time at all.
what a mechanic would do to make sure the arm on the clutch is fully disengaged is to pull it back.
A master and a slave will not cause a slipping clutch no matter what. Not unless somone put the wrong fluid in and the rubbler has swelled causing this type of problem when the pedal is applied.
If this is the case all parts that have rubber will need to be replaced. what a mechanic would do to make sure the arm on the clutch is fully disengaged is to pull it back.
