Subwoofer will not product sound. (ignore product)
I have a JBL home theater 12'' sub. For some reason its not producing any sound...AT ALL. The green light comes on and stays on. I tried to hook my ipod up, and still no sound. All of the wires are plugged in.

Please verify that we're talking about a JBL PSW-D110 here. I'm making no assumptions.
Are you running the Ipod into its L & R RCA jacks as prescribed?
Have you tried it with something besides the Ipod? A sub isn't supposed to reproduce a full range signal. Come to think of it, is the Ipod even outputting anything within the sub's operational range? I don't expect a lot of real bass comes out of one.
Perhaps you could try adjusting the Low Pass up to 180 to see if anything anywhere near the 'real' bass region is present.
Bottom line: There's not a lot of need for a sub (and no other speakers) running off of any music sound source. You wouldn't hear anything above 180hz.
Your unnamed HTS probably has all kinds of settings that, if incorrect, will fail to send LFE to the sub. Make sure it knows you have a sub; attach something simple like a CD player to its RCA Line Inputs and see if anything comes out. Assuming the material contains any low bass, the best you should expect is a muffled low end with little intelligible programming (rhythm). That is normal.
If that works, go back to the drawing board with the sub's instructions and the HTS's instructions and start from scratch.
If it doesn't work, yeah, the sub may be kaput or malfunctioning.
This is the extent of the manual's troubleshooting tips...
Troubleshooting
If you used the high-level (speaker) inputs and there is no sound from any of the speakers, check the following:
• Receiver/amplifier is on and a source is playing.
• Powered subwoofer is plugged in.
• Check all wires and connections between receiver/amplifier and speakers. Make sure all wires are connected. Make sure none of the speaker wires are frayed, cut or punctured.
• Review proper operation of your receiver/amplifier.
If there is low bass output, check the following:
• Make sure the connections to the left and right “Speaker Inputs” have the correct
polarity (+ and –).
• Make sure that the subwoofer is plugged into an active electrical outlet.
• Powered subwoofer is plugged in.
• Adjust the crossover point.
I sorry but you have an internal fault in the Sub.
If it's not covered by the maker, open it and look inside. You might see a broken or burnt part. If everything appears OK, then suspect anything on a heat sink.
Hi jackellis,
I was having a similar problem with my jbl psw-d110 at home. I opened it up to find that C6, a 10uf 50v non polarized capacitor had exploded. You can find a replacement at radio shack, or go with a more quality part and search online. If you or anyone you know is good with a soldering iron, you could replace a bad cap. Just make sure the caps are drained sufficiently before poking around.
