Subwoofers are working but aren't that loud.. help me!
Me and a friend hooked up my amp and subs today I have 2x 12'' Rockford Fosgate Punches and a MTX amp 404 thunder not quiet sure the watts but should be able to handle them just fine I believe... but the problem is my subs are working sound coming out of them but there not beating like they should I mean my trunk should be vibrating when its on full blast and its not my Pioneer 6'' speakers and pushing out louder and more bass than my subs...which is sad when I close my trunk you cant even tell I have a sub or anything.. Someone help please, this was our first time installing maybe we messed something up I dont know..

Not a bad set-up at all. i can help you i do need some more info though. what head unit do you have? what type of box is it just the normal rectangle box with or without divide sealed or is it ported? measure the size of the box and give me the dimensions please? how did you run the cables and how did you hook up between the deck and the amp? does the amp have built in crossover this could be problem just a little tuning? if it does make sure you selelct lpf mode and turn the hz knob all the way down ( counterclockwise) check the gain control should be another knob turn it clockwise all the way. you might need a little flat screwdriver to reach all these. is this amp bridgeable and if so are you running bridge mode ( 1 channel) if not look where you hook up the speaker and look and both channels and you will see a pos connect on 1 channel and neg connect on the other, put both neg wires on neg terminal and put both pos wires on pos terminal. in this set-up you will have full raw power. let me know about this and i will help you the most i can. good luck and happy booming.
aorry i lost the message i was typing to you. not sure if you got the previous message or not about how to get the amp hooked up to turn on and off with key? let me know if you did or did not, computer did wierd things. if you did you should be looking at the amp now. now turn the amp on the side where all the buttons and knobs are, you may need a little screwdriver start looking at the knobs that say gain / lpf hpf full/ 2 channel or 4 channel. turn the gain all the way clockwise, switch to lpf and select 2 channel make sure that the speakers are wired in bridge mode the corresponding channel that you have the audio cables plug into. out the 2 pos speaker wires together and same for the neg and install on that channel in bridges mode, pos will go on 1 conn. and neg will go on 1 con all this on same channel. speakers will work in reverse polarity sometimes really well and sometimes that could be the problem your having. double check that polarity is correct amp should say bridge mode and have a line going to proper terminals the terminal will be different. pay attention only to the bridge drawing or you will get confused when it shows you where to hook. give me the exact model # of the amp you have and i can help you more then this with more precision. example rtp 404 road thunder amp that rtp makes a huge difference with them. the rtp has got to go bridge mode or you will not have enough watts, only 45. in bridge you get 150. the other one is bigger then that need to know this. if you have the rtp 404 amp the you need not adjust the front gain your audio should be plugged into the rear to the right of that should be a switch that that says rear x-over move that the lp next to that is a knob that says gain turn it clockwise. using the pos speaker wires connect them together and install on the pos side of rear channel, using the neg speaker wires connect them together and install on the neg side of rear channel. try this and let me know what you get. you did say you had punch p112 x 2, as long as they are p1 punches then you should have enough juice if they are p2 or p3's then you may not have enough. did you buy the amp new or used? all right let me know what you get and i'll check back later with you. good luck
are you still pulling the fuse to turn off the amp? my first letter to you said how to fix that but dont believe that you got it. you need to pull the deck out and identify the remote antenna wire normally blue or blue with white stripe and connect the remote wire from the amp to that. sometimes you will have two wire that look exactly the same turn on the igntion and using a test light ground the tester and turn the radio on until one turns the light on. once you have found the one that does boom there you go. now the amp turns on with the key. dont worry about the equalizer right now, sorry but i've never been a fan of them at all. they dont do that much and are a pain in **** to tune in, a good active crossover ( wired pre-amp) is a huge help though. for now though lets get you up and booming. have you checked to make sure that the speakers inside the box have the wires on the right terminal pos on pos, neg on neg. if that checks out ok then check the knobs that you turned im going that you do have the rtp404 amp, is there a knob that says something such as lpf gain or lpf level or just level if so reading those numbers turn the knob to the lowest setting normally 40hz, while keeping the gain turned all the way up. yes your right we are close to getting you up and running. what type of deck (head unit) are you running so i can make sure that there is no settings in there that we need to change???? let me know again and we'll get here soon. oh yea my fee is 75 an hour, i figure your new bill should be about 300 now, cash check or charge. lololol hahahaha. just a little humor
