Suddenly stopped cooling
Unit is about 2 years old. always worked great. a couple of days ago it just stopped cooling. i tried leaving it turned off for a couple of hours in case something froze up, and of course i checked the breakers and went outside to see that it was running. it is blowing, just not cold. the inside temp was 84, i let it run a couple of hours and it didn't drop 1 degree. I can't hear the compressor running, but i never listened for it before, so i don't know if i should be able to hear it or not. I have noticed that when it's turned on, the lights in the house will dim for a second every couple of minutes. since it is only about 2 years old, might it still be under warranty?

Sounds to me like the run capacitor is bad. It is a dual one which means runs the fan and the compressor. No big deal capacitors are only 10 bucks and easy to replace.
First turn off the electricity to unit at breaker would be best. Next after you open the access panel locate the capacitor and make a note which wires go where one side is marked fan the other is herm. in the middle is comm. Take the old one in and get a new one same size and reinstall. Now parts only have one year warranty but they should have a discount on a person that bought a unit from them if you talk to them and tell them how can this happen only 2 years old. you know the story they might just throw one in for free to keep good business practice. Let me know how it goes. ken
