It may be that the starter solenoid is bad. Turn on the key to run position and try jumping across the two large battery cable to it. I have found that a crescent adjustable wrench works very well. Just adjust the opening to the proper width and touch to the cables. It will not shock you. You may need to hook up the jumper cables from your vehicle, if the battery is down.
