The AC doesn´t work when outside temp goes 100 degrees and above
When outside temperature goes above 100 degrees it´s like the AC can´t deliver any cool air. It does cool the air for some minutes and then it quits! And it goes off and on like this. When the sun sets and outside temp gets below 100 it starts to cool the air properly again. Is it dirty inside or what? Is it possible to clean it? The inside filter is clean. The AC is exposed to the heating sun trough all the sunny hours...

Try using a garden hose to wash down the condensor coil (the coil that is exposed to the outside air).
During the cooler times when it seems to be working, check the temperature difference of the air coming out against the temperature of the air coming in (room temperature air). The temperature should be approximately 16 to 22degF difference. If you are not getting at least 16degF air, you most likely need to have your unit serviced to see if professionial cleaning or a recharge is needed. If you are getting the temperature difference but not getting the amount of cooling you need during hot weather, it could be a capacity problem. You can perform a quick test by using the calculator on this site:

I hope you find this information helpful. Good Luck! :-)
I have been an A/C tech from my early teens until now and I am 56 years old. Please everyone! If an your a/c is sized correctly and it is 100 degrees outside then the inside may only get down to around 20 to 22 degrees lower than the outside. This is because it has to run to keep getting rid of moisture. A unit that is sized to large will have bring down the tempature inside but will not remove the moisture. Sounds stupid but when we sweat our bodies cool. If we were in a room 70 degrees and it was 80 percent humidity you will feel hot. Sometimes if you have a lot of children and the doors are open a lot then maybe you should up size your unit. But remember a larger a/c may not always be the answer. As always have a professional take a look at you system to make sure you have proper air flow and the coils are clean as well as your filter's.
