Please check the suction on your machine? Is it strong? It may be that you have a clog, particularly since you have dogs, cats and children!
It suction is fine, have you checked the rotating roller brush? If the point of pickup is poor on your floors, you may need to check your belt. You may have picked up a large object that has affected the tension in the belt.
