If the belt is on, take it off. Check ALL of your pullies and idlers. Spin them, they should spin smoothly & quietly. If they feel "crunchy" or make excessive noise or if it is bent, replace. Also, try to wiggle them side ways. If it wobbles, replace. If this is on a mower deck, you may have to engage the blades to release a blade brake. Safety first. Engine OFF. Spark plug(s) & battery disconnected. Don't be that guy, saver your fingers.
