It can be fixed, but you will have to basically take it all apart to do it, which can be a pain in some coffee makers. Then again, some are fairly easy. Second, yes, it will eventually go away, unless it is just getting caused by the coffee maker coming on. It shouldn't hurt anything, but can still be an annoyance. Hope this helps.
