The convection fan on our duel heat oven is not working. It started making a metal noise when I turned it on, and now, it makes no noise, but is not working. You can hear a hummmmmm noise, but that is it. The oven does heat up still

If the noise is pressent means that the motor is working ..and all that is broke is the fan ..this was the cause of the strange noise..the actual mount was breaking ...probably the bearing ..or something ..so ..I would not use it until you change the fan ..cause you may burn the motor too..and this will cost more...just see for someone to change the fan ...and be sure yo buy one with the mounting system on it ...cause for sure it is broke... the oven will work ..but be careful cause the heat will not dispense all over like it use to ..and will behave different ..the actual cooking temperature will be different and in some spots will heat more than the other ..and if you bake something you have all the chance to burn it in a side and have it row in the other ..
Attempt to spin the motor by hand. If it feels tight, it will need to be replaced. Also make sure the blade has not fallen off, if so, check for damage and replace as necessary. What is the make and model of your oven?
It sounds as though the convection motor blade has loosened from the shaft. As a result there is possible damage to the blade which will most likely result in the need to replace the blade. Here is a video I found that demonstrates accessing the convection fan in an oven similiar to yours. I hope you find this helpful moving forward. :-)
