The coolant hose going into the engine is leaking on my 99 navigator they said it is the metal hose that needs to be replaced they want 1029 dollars to fix because the have to take the engine apart to get to it is this too much

Have you tried brazing the joint or using araldite,got to be cheaper than taking the guts out.....
I cannot comment on another garages price because of the overheads which can vary ,but i would ask a local mechanic if its possible to cut the metal pipe and put a piece of rubber hose in its place .I cannot say for definate if this is feasable because i have never seen one of these vehicles here in spain
